THE ORIGIN OF MALAYSIA GOLDEN AROWANA

BUKIT MERAH AQUACULTURE BREEDING FARM

The Malaysia Golden Arowana commonly inhabits the Kerian River and its tributaries in Perak, Malaysia. In its natural habitat the fish prefer slightly acidic clean water and unpolluted natural surroundings, especially shallow and fast flowing river with overhanging vegetation on the river bank.

It has golden scales to the fourth colum and pinkish abdomen when young. When the fish grow up, the golden scale will escalate to the fifth column (hence cross-back) and the pink abdomen disappear. The scale may have different base color such as gold, silver or blue. Blue being the rarest. The scales can also divided into thin or thick golden frame.
